Six lanes on one controlled bench
Services read at the Bench.
BRIGHTGENE PTE. LTD. runs its genetic testing work from a Singapore laboratory at 55 AYER RAJAH CRESCENT #01-26, Singapore 139949. The six service lines below are deliberately distinct: each answers a different kind of question and carries its own reporting rules. Clients can order one lane, combine several, or begin with a conversation about which lane fits the question. Discuss a sample route with the intake team →
PCR bay
Gel tray and pipette row
Ladder wall and tube racks
Every lane begins with an intake record. Email support@brightgene.lat or call +16067692583 to start one.
The six service lines in detail
Each entry names the question, the sample type and the shape of the report. Turnaround figures are estimates that the laboratory confirms at intake, because a repeated assay can change the schedule.
Ancestry Analysis
Ancestry analysis compares a typed panel of markers against published reference populations to describe where a person may share deep ancestry. The laboratory works with several reference sets at once and reports a range for each region, so the output reads as evidence rather than a fixed verdict.
Reports usually separate continental, regional and within region signals, and they include a short note on resolution. A client from Southeast Asia may see clear regional structure and only a broad continental signal for areas where reference coverage remains thin. Analysts prefer that honesty to invented precision.
- Sample type: saliva kit or whole blood on request.
- Typical turnaround: ten to fifteen working days after intake.
- Report shape: origin ranges, resolution notes, method summary.
Wellness Genetic Screening
Wellness screening reviews common variants associated with nutrient handling, caffeine response, sleep timing and exercise recovery. The panel is intentionally modest. It covers variants with enough published evidence to support a useful conversation, and it avoids speculative markers whose interpretation changes with every new study.
Every entry carries an effect size and a statement about what a result does not mean. A variant linked to slower caffeine clearance is a prompt to watch late day intake, not a medical conclusion. The laboratory keeps that distinction visible in every paragraph of the report.
- Sample type: saliva kit collected at home.
- Typical turnaround: eight to twelve working days after intake.
- Report shape: panel summary, effect sizes, practical context.
Carrier Status Panels
Carrier panels screen for recessive conditions that matter when two partners each carry a variant in the same gene. The panel is chosen with the clinic or the client rather than applied uniformly, because family background and known history change which genes deserve attention.
Findings are written for people who are not clinicians. Each positive carrier call explains the inheritance pattern, names the residual risk in plain language, and offers a route to counselling. The laboratory does not test children for carrier panels and refers requests for prenatal testing to the ordering clinician.
- Sample type: saliva kit or blood, depending on panel scope.
- Typical turnaround: twelve to twenty working days after intake.
- Report shape: gene list, carrier calls, inheritance notes.
Sample Collection Kits
Kits are assembled and quality checked in Singapore. Each carton carries barcoded tubes, stabilising buffer, a sealed return bag and instructions written for a first time user. Assembly records tie the carton lot to the buffer lot, so a later question about a batch can be answered from the same file.
The kit is also the first control point in the chain of custody. The intake team inspects the seal, reads the barcode and checks sample condition before acceptance. A kit that arrives warm, cracked or unlabelled is rejected with a replacement offered, because a compromised sample wastes more than a courier trip.
- Contents: collection tube, buffer, barcode label, return packaging.
- Storage: room temperature until collection, then cool return.
- Traceability: carton lot, buffer lot and intake barcode linked.
Laboratory Report Review
Report review is a separate service because the interpretation is where most errors survive longest. A senior analyst reads the quality metrics, the coverage profile and the variant calls before reading the written report, then checks that the language matches the strength of the evidence.
The reviewer records a short note against the file. That note stays with the report, so a question raised later can be answered from the original evidence rather than from memory. Clinics that order panels from the laboratory may also request review of a report produced elsewhere, provided the raw data is available.
- Scope: internal release review or external second review.
- Typical turnaround: two to five working days after data arrival.
- Output: review note, flagged items, release decision.
Genetic Counselling Referrals
Some results deserve a conversation with a trained counsellor, and the laboratory maintains a referral list of independent practitioners for that purpose. Referrals are offered, never required, and the client decides how much of the report travels with the introduction.
The referral note is short and factual. It states the reason for the introduction, the relevant finding and the questions the client wants to discuss. BRIGHTGENE PTE. LTD. does not bill for counselling and does not take a share of any counsellor fee, which keeps the recommendation independent.
- Trigger: a finding with family or reproductive implications.
- Typical timing: within one week of report release.
- Output: introduction note, appointment arranged by the client.
How a sample moves through the laboratory
The process is the same for every lane. What changes is the assay and the report, never the record keeping.
-
Intake conversation
The question, the sample type and the expected turnaround are agreed before a kit is sent. Unclear requests are discussed rather than guessed.
-
Kit dispatch and return
A lot tracked kit travels to the client and returns on a scheduled path so that the sample does not sit in transit over long weekends.
-
Acceptance check
The seal, barcode and sample condition are recorded. A rejected sample is reported to the client with a replacement route.
-
Extraction and amplification
Each batch runs beside a control lane. An out of tolerance control stops the run before client data is trusted.
-
Interpretation and review
Calls are interpreted with their quality flags intact and then reviewed by a senior analyst against the same evidence.
-
Report and follow up
The signed report is released with a named contact, and counselling referral is offered wherever the finding calls for it.
Tell us the question, not the product.
The intake team at BRIGHTGENE PTE. LTD. will map the question onto a lane, explain the sample path and confirm the turnaround. The laboratory sits at 55 AYER RAJAH CRESCENT #01-26, Singapore 139949.
